Dubai Office Exhibition: Wilkhahn presents modern “communications centre”
[02-18-2009] The Dubai Office Exhibition, which opens at the beginning of March, marks the largest and most important event for office solutions in the Middle East. The exhibition does not only cover office furniture, lighting, flooring and wall systems, but also IT and security systems. Wilkhahn, that has had its own showroom in Dubai for two years now, will be focusing its presentation on an executive’s office as a “communication centre”: with an elegant conference table featuring perfect integration of media technology, with a dynamic, high-quality lounge for casual info-exchange in the executive’s office and with a management workplace furnished with a classically prestigious character.

In spite of the consequences of the global financial and economic crisis, Wilkhahn is once again participating in the Dubai Office Exhibition with a view to demonstrating the special qualities of “design made in Germany” at this premier event in the Middle East. "We think and act on the basis of longer periods of time. This applies both to product development and market development” says Holger Jahnke, President International Markets, emphasizing the strategic importance of the region for international business. Now of all times, it is vital to show architects, project developers and customers that we are a reliable and competent partner who supplies first-class quality in terms of consultation, products and service. “In difficult environments, intrinsically lasting quality, timeless design, perfect functionality and professionalism become increasingly important as those responsible study the spectrum of value added that their investments involve even more carefully” says Jahnke by way of explaining the opportunities for Wilkhahn of continuing to expand its business.

Confidence-building, joint analysis and assessment of matters, followed by qualified decision-making – these are management processes that should be promoted on management levels more than ever. In its presentation, Wilkhahn is therefore focusing on the concept of an executive’s office as a “communication centre”:
- A conference table from the Travis range (design wiege) is centre-stage and combines a vast surface span with interaction-oriented table top geometry and perfectly integrated media technology connectivity. From this table, participants can directly connect up to a large, electronic wall display for the purpose of video-conferencing, presentations or online research. Teamed with FS-Line design classics (design: Klaus Franck, Werner Sauer), the result is an ensemble that is a convincing solution due to both enduring design quality and ingenious functionality.
- A lounge area furnished with cantilever chairs and tables from the Cura range (design: Klaus Franck, Werner Sauer) provides a dynamic and high-quality environment for confidence-building and casual info-exchange. Excellent seated comfort, combined with elegant and graceful linear design stand for mobility and openness, thus setting a counterpoint to opulent furniture with soft upholstery.
- The executive’s workplace itself comprises a spacious table, ergonomically and aesthetically excellent office and conference chairs, as well as a sideboard exactly coordinated with the table. With its solid, linear table top and four square table legs positioned flush with the edge of the table, Palette (design: Karlheinz Rubner) has long been regarded as an archetypical design classic amongst table ranges. Gravis, the new sideboard range (design: wiege), matching in terms of form and surface finish, is the ideal addition: the box n’blox construction allows individual coordination of the ‘shell’ combined with perfect functionality of the ‘core’. Last but not least, swivel chairs form the Modus range (design: wiege, Klaus Franck, Werner Sauer) ensure healthy movement-based ergonomics with a design language that has become a model of excellence for a whole generation of office chairs due to reduction to essentials.

The design timeframe of the ranges that are orchestrated in this modern “communication centre” embrace a period of over a quarter a century. This is surely the best proof of the timelessness and intrinsic value of “design made in Germany” à la Wilkhahn.
