Walter Papst invented his own version of the "adjustable seat and lounger with weather-protecting hood" and filed it for patent in 1968. Desinger: Walter Papst Unfortunately two reasons prevented this innovative product from becoming a runaway success. Firstly, people renting out the chairs usually made the chairs themselves during the winter months, and secondly Papst's chairs were not aerodynamic enough.
