Wilkhahn: managing director as new member of Wilkhahn Group

[07-25-2006] Bad Münder. With the appointment of Holger Jahnke who has been running the business of renowned office furniture manager Wilkhahn together with Dr. Jochen Hahne for the past three and a half years, a non-family member has now become a voting shareholder in the company.

As early as 35 years ago, the company caused quite stir with innovative staff participation models and is today regarded as the pioneer of modern corporate and management concepts. About one quarter of the shares in the company are held by active and former employees. Whilst these shares are dormant equity holdings and restricted to the Wilkhahn KG in Bad Münder, Holger Jahnke is a voting shareholder in the Group.

Holger Jahnke, 41, married with two children, assumed responsibility for Wilkhahn Sales on 1 November, 2002. Besides the international reputation of the company, the deciding factor to leave a high management position to join Wilkhahn was the option of becoming a shareholder later on. Holger Jahnke looks back on his decision: “With Wilkhahn we still have enormous potential in international markets and for me it was important to assume joint responsibility for corporate development not only as an employed manager but also as a shareholder.”

After Wilkhahn had emerged from the widespread crisis in the industry in the past few years in a strengthened position as an international specialist for high-quality conference and office furniture, Holger Jahnke also took over the management of international marketing at the company on 1 February this year. With the agreement of the shareholders’ meeting to transfer voting shares to Holger Jahnke, the members of the company expressed their recognition of his achievements in restructuring and repositioning Wilkhahn.

Dr. Jochen Hahne, family member of the company and chairman of the board of management, is delighted about this decision. “Cooperation in the past few years has shown that there is agreement regards the positioning of the company thus allowing us to shape the company’s future in the long term. With this development in mind, the other members of the company are pleased to welcome Holger Jahnke as voting shareholder.”
