| Wilkhahn at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Milan [04-16-2002] This year the Italian Furniture Fair, EIMU, took place at the same time as the Milan Office Furniture Fair. From 10 - 15 April, not only the exhibition site, but also the entire downtown area were incorporated in these multifaceted exhibitions. These "fuori salone” were temporary showrooms and, with their special presentations, they had to be regarded as highlights of any visit to Milan. This time, Wilkhahn had chosen a location which projects an excellent synthesis of office and living environments: INDUSTRIA SUPERSTUDIO in the Via Gaspare Bugatti 7. In the Sala Colonne of a former factory we staged “Wilkhahn - living and working in a loft”. The exhibition for this historic factory ambience was the work of the wiege Design Office. The focus was on new colour schemes, surface finishes and fabrics which have been developed in collaboration with textiles manufacturer Kvadrat. Conference table configurations, conference and office chair ranges, as well as lounge furniture, had been carefully colour-coordinated to blend with the loft atmosphere, and offer new design perspectives and aesthetically pleasing solutions. Sito, a new chair range, was on view in Italy for the first time: it is an innovative, very distinct cantilever chair family which combines an extremely filigree appearance with an amazingly high degree of comfort.
