TÜV Academy Rhineland, Cologne, Germany

Serving the improvement of skills In Germany the TÜV (Safety Standards Authority) is often only associated with statutory technical requirements, e.g. for vehicles. In fact, it is already well established as an efficient provider of services for various branches. For example, the TÜV Academy Rhineland offers an excellent consultancy and training programme at its new seminar centre in Cologne – for some 16,000 attending every year.   As an independent training and consultancy division, the Academy belongs to the TÜV Rheinland/Brandenburg group of companies. It addresses specialists and executives with its management and specialized technical seminars, conferences and also programmes on the development of human resources and organization. Interior design and furniture are high quality and modern to suit this focus.   Rooms and functional spaces are tailored to the specific needs of seminars and conferences. There is a delightful cafeteria, looking down onto the park, which serves hot and cold beverages. This provides a pleasant setting for informal talks in those very important coffee breaks. If warm meals are required, a place in the restaurant in the adjacent TÜV high-rise building can be reserved - the cuisine is highly reputed.   The eight conference rooms can be adapted to suit varying group sizes and methods. The largest room can accommodate events with up to 100 persons. The combination of mobile folding tables and stackable cantilever chairs ensures that the image and comfort of coherently designed, high-quality furniture involve low follow-up costs: reconfiguration of the room before and after events can be carried out by one person in no time at all.   Besides rectangular rooms, there are also rotundas with circular seminar rooms, which provide an exciting experience of space in terms of scope of use. This includes various types of flooring such as carpeting, granite and cherry country-style floorboards, a lively effect through channelling of daylight and alternating art exhibitions. Architecture, interior design, operators’ concept and seminar programme blend perfectly to create a top conference centre.
